| It’s Just Too Hard; I Give Up Some people look at the fact that it is impossible to be perfect with the same perfection as our heavenly Father and simply never press on toward that goal. As they consider the impossibility of it all, they get discouraged and don’t even try. That is the attitude Luke 19:17-24 is dealing with. Luke 19:17-24 (NIV) “Well done, my good servant!” his master replied. “Because you have been trustworthy in a very small matter, take charge of ten cities.” The second came and said, “Sir, your mina has earned five more.” His master answered, “You take charge of five cities.” Then another servant came and said, “Sir, here is your mina; I have kept it laid away in a piece of cloth. I was afraid of you, because you are a hard man. You take out what you did not put in and reap what you did not sow.” His master replied, “I will judge you by your own words, you wicked servant! You knew, did you, that I am a hard man, taking out what I did not put in, and reaping what I did not sow? Why then didn’t you put my money on deposit, so that when I came back, I could have collected it with interest?” Then he said to those standing by, “Take his mina away from him and give it to the one who has ten minas.” | This last man DIDN’T EVEN TRY! He only saw all the impossibilities; he didn’t even attempt to come up with a way to do the best he could with what he saw as an impossible situation. That is what can happen to us. God has given us a new life. It is unlimited as to how high we can go. We just have to be willing to give it all to God. Nothing is impossible for Him. He can take the issues of perfection and show us a new life that is far beyond anything we can think of or ask for. Eph 3:20 (NIV) Now to Him Who is able to do immeasurably (AMP: Superabundantly) more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work WITHIN us. We may end up with five times the gifts that God originally gave us; or we may end up with ten times the gifts. But, we didn’t just do nothing. We must at least invest in one person. We must at least yield to the new life that Jesus’ resurrection provided us. Don’t let the concept of perfection cause you to quit. See it as an unlimited possibility. All you have to do is keep praying and having faith in your heavenly Father; then nothing will be impossible for you. |
