Mat 5:33-37 (NIV) Again, you have heard that it was said to the people long ago, “Do not break your oath, but keep the oaths you have made to the Lord.” BUT I TELL YOU, Do not swear at all: either by heaven, for it is God’s throne; or by the earth, for it is His footstool; or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the Great King. And do not swear by your head, for you cannot make even one hair white or black. Simply let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes’, and your ‘No’, ‘No’; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.

If I’m Lying, I’m Dying
The most dangerous type of lying is concerning the things of God.

1 John 1:6 (NIV) If we claim to have fellowship with Him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth.

Sometimes people want to belong to the church and enjoy their company without becoming a Christian. They look pretty good when they are around Christians. However, when they are with sinners, it is a totally different story. Neither group would believe the way they live if they could see them with the other group. The Bible is saying that they really belong to the sinner group. They are living a lie among the Christians.

John 8:12 (NIV) When Jesus spoke again to the people, He said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

John 9:4-5 (NIV) As long as it is day, we must do the work of Him Who sent Me. Night is coming, when no one can work. While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
Truth is like light; it shines on everything around us and allows us to see things the way they really are. Jesus made everything clear; the religious leaders of that day had lied, changed the truth into human concepts, and kept people from being able to find the truth. These are people who aren’t ministers of God; they just want to belong to His group so they can exploit the ministry. That is happening today. It is up to you to yield to Jesus and allow Him to shine in and through you.

Luke 11:35-36 (NIV) See to it, then, that the light within you is not darkness. Therefore, if your whole body is full of light, and no part of it dark, it will be completely lighted, as when the light of a lamp shines on you.

Mat 5:14-15 (NIV) You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.

Yielding to Jesus brings the light of His truth to you and all those around you. For the first time in their life they are able to see the way things really are. They are set free to be able to make a knowledgeable decision as to what they are going to do about eternity.
