Mat 6:12 (NIV) Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.

This Is How The True Christian Feels
Rom 7:24 (NIV) What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death?

Rom 7:22 (NIV) For in my inner being I delight in God’s law.

In these two Scriptures, in Romans, we can see the intensity of the desire a Christian has against sin and for righteousness. Those who don’t feel this intense about it need to go back to God and make sure where they really stand with Him. Being perfect is something we need to deeply desire.

However, that desire is light-years away from feeling wretched about the misdeeds of our body. If a person doesn’t have feelings of wretchedness about sin, they for sure don’t have a deep desire to reach for the best God has for them. They are a long way off from wanting the kind of perfection our heavenly Father has.
God wants us to hate sin so much and delight in His laws so much that we are intensely motivated to press on to the high call of His perfection.

Phil 3:10-14 (NIV) I want to know Christ and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in His sufferings, becoming like Him in His death, and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead. Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.

Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

Praying and asking God for this kind of hate toward the sins in our lives and this kind of love for God’s perfection in our lives will empower us to be able to forgive those we need to forgive and love those we need to love.
